A top ical study of the nature and methodology of metaphysics with emphasis on the nature and ulei­ mate categor ies of being as well as specific areas (e.g. causation , space and time, th e sou l, freedom and determinism. pe rsonal id en ­ tity, and essentialism). Special emphasis will be pl aced on inte­ g rari n g metaph ys ics with the co nstru c tion and defense o f a Christian worldview. PH 524 Metaphysics II (3) A topical study of important selected th emes and person s in the fi e ld of metaphysics. Empha­ sis will be placed on current ten­ sions between C hri s tian theism and va rious me ta ph ysica l posi ­ tions and on key past and present fi gures in metaph ysics. Elective. PH 544 Epistemology I (3) A topical study in the definition of knowledge and justified belief, problems in sk e ptici s m, the nacure of epistemic justifica ti on and the nature of truth.
