This inter­ view is sc heduled after th e com ­ pletion of three semes ters in resi ­ de n c e , in c ludin g ar lease one practi c um a s s ig nment. T h e re sulcs of thi s int erv iew a re reported to t h e fa c ult y. which votes (I) a llowin g the student co continu e, (2) continue st udies wi rh a Pre liminary Oral Inte rview re-examinat ion th e following year. or (3) noc allowing th e studen t to continue in the doctoral program. (3) Comprehensive Examinations All students muse pass a ser of doc tor a l- leve l compr e h e nsi ve exam in at ions cove rin g the fol­ lo w in g a reas: ( I ) psycholog ica l intervencion a nd (2) psychol ogy and theology . (7) Completion of Training Therapy All students must rece ive ce r­ tificat ion of completi o n of train­ ing therapy from the d irecto r of clini ca l training. A minimum o f .'iO hours of gro up therapy plus SO hour s of individual therap y is required. See Trai ning Th era py G uid e lines in the swde nt ha nd­ book fo r further deta il s . (8) Dissertation A d issertat ion ev idencing high atta inment in original scholarship must he s uhmicced b y a ll Ph.D. ca ndidates. T he dissertation topic and proposal must be approved hy th e candidate's advisory committee prior to the beg inning of the stu­ de nt 's int e rnship. Three weeks prior w expec ted g raduation th e cand idate must submit co the Rose­ mead dean the original and four copies of the dissertation approved by th e dissertation committee and 13iola librari an. (9) Final Oral Examination Th e final exami nat ion is a n o ral defense of the dissertation before the doctoral committee a nd o ther invited professiona ls.

O nl y one retake of the examina­ tion is a llowed. T he daces of th e Compre he nsive Examinations a re spec ified in the Academic Cale ndar. (4) Admission to Candidacy Offic ia l ca ndidacy for the doc corate signifies a n ad va nced stage in t he student' s prog ress. In o rder to he admitted co ca ndi­ dacy the st udent must have: (a) Success full y completed the Preliminary Oral Interview (b) Passed the Comprehens ive Examinations (c) Recei ved app rova l of di sse rta­ t ion proposal by the Doctoral Committee (d) Completed training th e rapy (5) Professional Qualifying Exam A ll doctoral s tudents must successfu ll y complete an exami­ nation rhar eval uates th e student ' s read in ess for a full-time intern­ s hip . It may he taken any time after th e comprehensive examina­ t ions have heen passed and muse be completed prior to acceptance of an interns hip.
