What is a Direct to Employer Program? The direct to employer program is a joint initiative with AdventHealth and Comhar that allows employers to work directly with the hospital network, bypassing the intermediaries or insurance companies. This is designed to lower costs with a strategy to better manage claims and control costs. There are 7 suggested plan designs; 3 HMO, 2 PPO and 2 HDHP, but we can customize plans if you choose. The program is a partially self-funded program that offers total health management allowing employers the ability to better manage and control their health care costs. Is this a new unproven program? No. The program has been in place with AdventHealth Orlando, formerly Florida Hospital Orlando, and Disney for over three years. It is also offered in other areas of the US. It is being introduced into the Tampa Bay market for small to medium sized businesses. What differentiates this program from traditional insurance plans? Traditional insurance plans are fully insured and costs will never allow you to benefit from good health performance. This program has many cost saving components and offers better claims management and cost containment strategies. What happens if I don’t want to go to a provider or facility in the plan? The plan designs provide incentives to the employees to use an AdventHealth provider or facility. However, there are plans with national networks (Cigna or Aetna) that allow your employees to use other providers and facilities. For employers with employees out of the coverage area there will be a choice of the Aetna or Cigna networks for national coverage.

Explain the captive or pool in which employees will be placed. This is another vehicle to help you place employees in a group to the employer with other employers/ employees, allowing them to spread the risk. It also can provide a dividend coming from the profit of the Captive pool. What are the advantages of this program? This program is a direct to employer arrangement that is contracted directly with AdventHealth offering very competitive discounts. It bypasses intermediaries, and insurance companies to help lower your healthcare costs.
