Information about your Holiday Dragonfly holiday prices are all-inclusive, so they cover the cost of the whole holiday – there are no extras! Many coach holidays include coach travel, hotel accommodation and meals at the hotel as standard, but a Dragonfly holiday also includes a taxi collection from home, daily excursions, all entrance fees, light lunches out every day, complimentary refreshments on board the coach and the services of a friendly tour manager (in addition to the coach driver). We provide a stress-free holiday with all arrangements made and no additional expense so you can simply relax and enjoy yourself knowing everything has been taken care of. During a Dragonfly holiday, the only additional items our customers may wish to purchase are evening drinks from the bar, or perhaps an ice cream or souvenir during the day! We even include lunch on the way home! Door-to-Door Service Our holidays include taxi collections from home for customers living in Birmingham and the surrounding areas - so there’s no need to worry about travelling to meet our coach or struggling with your suitcase! We collect you from home by taxi and return you home at the end of your holiday. On the morning of departure, we bring you to our departure point at Hopwood where our friendly tour manager and driver are waiting to greet you. On arrival, your taxi driver will pass your luggage directly to our coach driver while our tour manager welcomes you onboard. Once everyone has arrived, we are ready to set off together and to enjoy the first of many complimentary hot drinks & biscuits on board the coach! Unless we are travelling further afield e.g. to Scotland, your collection time from home is rarely earlier than 8.30 am & as everyone is brought directly to the coach there is, of course, no additional travelling around to collect anyone else once we have all set off together from Hopwood! At the end of the holiday, we return to Hopwood by late afternoon where we are met by our homeward taxis. Comfortable Coach Travel You’ll be travelling on a comfortable touring coach with an on‑board w.c. and complimentary hot‑drinks facilities. During the journey, our Tour Manager will serve a range of complimentary refreshments — not just standard tea or coffee, but also decaffeinated options, hot chocolate, herbal teas, bottled water (and even Bovril by special request!) along with delicious biscuits from family‑owned Border Biscuits. We always make at least two comfort stops en‑route to the hotel (with additional
~ 21 ~
stops on longer journeys). There’s never any rush — it’s important to travel in comfort. 3-Star and 4-Star Hotels The hotels we use range from larger 3-star or 4-star hotels with leisure facilities to smaller 3-star hotels. Many of the hotels we use are family owned and individually run. All bedrooms have a private bathroom with complimentary toileteries, colour television & a tea & coffee hospitality tray as standard, and some hotels also offer additional little luxuries! We always visit a hotel before we use it, and many of the hotels we feature have been ‘tried and tested’ over the years by our customers to become firm favourites. Daily Excursions We invest a lot of time in researching & planning interesting itineraries for our holidays. You will see an outline of our planned excursions on each of the individual holiday pages. We create gently paced days, leaving at a civilised time after breakfast (usually 10 am) with scenic journeys & interesting places to visit. Everything happens at a relaxed pace & we also ensure that our itineraries are accessible to those of our customers who have more limited mobility. Our itineraries are planned with the benefit of over 30 years of experience in tour planning & management! Lunches We include a daily light lunch on all the holidays, starting from the first excursion day – just one course followed by a coffee (or tea!). There are a selection of light options to choose from, for example homemade soup & a roll or a freshly-made sandwich or a salad or jacket potato and there are also larger options available if desired. We find pleasant venues for lunch that complement our itineraries. Our customers frequently mention how enjoyable it is to have it all arranged for them, especially if they are travelling solo and it certainly adds to the friendliness of the holiday when we enjoy lunch together too. We don’t include lunch on the first day on the way to the hotel (most of our customers bring a sandwich with them & we do make a longer stop at lunchtime). We do include a final more substantial lunch on the homeward journey with the
~ 22 ~
philosophy that it can be the main meal of the day (who wants to have to cook dinner when they get home at the end of a holiday!) Breakfast & evening meals are, of course, included at the hotel. Tour Manager A friendly and helpful Tour Manager will be with you throughout the holiday from the moment you join us at Hopwood. Her duty is to manage our holiday itinerary and make sure that everything runs smoothly throughout the holiday (and of course to provide your complimentary refreshments on the coach!). She is also available to assist any customer who experiences a problem or unexpected illness during their holiday. Customers (and their families) often say how reassuring it is to know that there is always someone on hand if needed. Please do note, however, that if you are not usually independent then you must bring someone with you to care for you while on holiday as our Tour Manager is unable to provide individual care for customers. Accessibility While our holidays are designed to be best enjoyed by customers with good mobility, we are considerate to anyone with more limited mobility. The hotels we use either have passenger lifts to the bedrooms or a large number of ground floor rooms & where possible, we cater for special requirements, e.g. walk-in showers. You can bring a collapsible wheelchair on most of the holidays, provided you also bring a companion to assist you with it (but please mention this when you book so that we can ensure you have chosen a suitable holiday and make any necessary arrangements). When our itineraries include visits to stately homes, castles or gardens, although less mobile customers may not be able to see upper floors or all of the garden, there will always be sufficient interest on the ground floors & welcome garden benches to relax & enjoy the beautiful surroundings . Please note that all customers must be able to climb the steps onto and off the coach and to walk for short distances. Data Protection We keep details of your name, address, phone number and booking information on our company database. The information is used by Dragonfly solely for dealing with your holiday booking and also to send you brochures and other Dragonfly literature. Your details are held confidentially and securely, we do not
~ 23 ~
store credit card details nor do we share customer details with any 3rd parties (other than our trade partners for the purpose of providing your holiday) Payment Options You can choose to pay your holiday in full at the time of booking or alternatively to pay a deposit & then make a final payment 8 weeks prior to the holiday. Also, if you prefer to break down the payment of your final balance into smaller monthly amounts, simply let us know when you book your holiday and we can arrange this to suit you. Holiday Vouchers Holiday Vouchers (for any amount) are available to buy for a birthday or Christmas gift or a special treat for a loved one. Please contact us for details. Security of your Holiday Payments In accordance with current regulations, we hold any payments you make to Dragonfly for your holiday in a separate Client Account until the holiday is completed. In-house Customer Scheme Over the years, we have developed systems to support our customers through unexpected illnesses & emergencies. Back in the late 1990s, we set up our Customer Care Scheme which is free for all our customers and has been running successfully ever since. It offers support & reassurance to our customers when they travel with us. Here are some of the things that we cover… Our Cancellation Refund Scheme The refunds detailed on the following page are given to any customer who cancels a holiday, regardless of whether or not you are cancelling due to an existing illness. We don’t request doctor’s notes or proof of your illness and we don’t send out lengthy forms to complete (the last thing you need if you are feeling ‘under the weather’!) Medical Assistance on Holiday If any of our customers fall ill during their holiday, our Tour Manager will make any necessary phone calls and will arrange medical assistance through the National Health Service. Getting you Safely Home If any of our customers have to stay in hospital and are unable to return with the coach at the end of the holiday, we will arrange and pay for a private transfer to bring them safely home when they are well enough to travel. Personal Insurance Cover Although Dragonfly’s Customer Scheme is designed to cover some of our customers’ needs, please note that it is simply an in-house scheme and NOT a holiday insurance. We strongly advise that you consider making your own arrangements for insurance to cover you in the possible event of you needing to cancel your holiday booking at short notice. Cancellation Refund Scheme We understand that it is difficult to cancel a holiday that you have been looking forward to, and we always aim to help you as sensitively as we can. As soon as you call us, we take your cancellation from the date of your phone call & the earlier you can inform us of your cancellation, the more we shall be able to refund. The initial £100 deposit paid to confirm your booking is unfortunately non- refundable. However, if your cancellation is more than 8 weeks before the holiday departure date, we will be able to arrange to transfer a credit to a future holiday. Should you need to cancel after the due date of the final balance payment (usually 8 weeks before the holiday departure date) but prior to the last 2 weeks before departure, we can refund or transfer 60% of the final payment. ** If you cancel within 2 weeks (14 days) prior to departure, but before the final week (7 days) prior to departure we can refund 25% of the final payment. ** If you cancel within the last week (7 days) we unfortunately cannot guarantee any refund. If you would like to transfer your holiday into another person’s name we can do this without any charge & we will always make every effort to help our customers as much as possible on an individual basis. ** Different refund conditions apply for our Festive Season holidays which will be advised at the time of booking.
