it was rumoured to be the secret entrance for celebrities. What has given a new shine to this address with a tradition of he- donism? Everyone who’s anyone in the showbiz world will opt to come right here to gulp down a “dirty” martini: late-night talk show host Jimmy Fallon, singer and ac- tor from popular series Euphoria, Dominic Fike, and famous music producer Mark Ronson (who is al- so an investor in this project). All of them, along with many others, rushed here to celebrate the revi- talisation of this legendary venue: namely, this used to be the location of Hurley’s Bar, which was a favour- ite among icons of every period. Hurley’s originally opened way back in 1892, and spent dec- ades as a “go-to” spot for the co- medians and creative people who shaped popular culture as we know it today. Jack Kerouac drank here, as did the team behind cult show Saturday Night Live, who jokingly
dubbed the bar “Studio 1-H”. Icons of American journalism David Let- terman and Johnny Carson were regulars, with Letterman even film- ing a lot of content for his show in the same building. However, de- spite the importance it held for the New York scene, Hurley’s closed down at the turn of the millenni- um, leaving behind a plethora of bohemian anecdotes that are re- counted half-whisperingly in se- lect company. Fully 22 years later, a group of “movers and shakers” from the city’s clubbing scene decided that the time was ripe for a revival that would return the stardust to its old brownstone façade. The team of in- genious hospitality scene veterans comprises Matt Kliegman, Carlos Quirarte, Noah Bernamoff, Julian Brizzi and Matthew Charles – fig- ures who have to date successfully launched some of the city’s most inspired nightlife establishments, like Ray’s, The Jane Hotel Ballroom

The Big Apple’s urban glamour is returning to its prime in a big way following the break caused by the pandemic, and best testifying to that is the recent (re)opening of Pebble Bar, housed in a four-storey townhouse in the area of Rockefeller Center. Despite this townhouse being equipped with a lift, the opening night saw many guests opt to use the stair- case for a very New York reason:
