Nurturing commercial agriculture growth for smallholder farmers Kalangala Oil Palm Growers Trust (KOPGT) is a farming organization administering government loans to farmers and providing fertilizer, seedlings, and other services to help smallholder farmers grow their businesses. KOPGT also provides sales and marketing services for the farmers, sharing knowledge on how to reduce postservice losses and helping farmers participate in the production cycle for oil palm. Through its work, KOPGT actively helps individuals move from subsistence farming into commercial oil palm farming, significantly improving their livelihoods. As more farmers joined the organization, it was important for KOPGT to have a robust sourcing and traceability system linked to its business management data. The goal was to enable more efficiency and effectiveness in its service delivery while empowering farmers with data-driven insights to make more-informed decisions.
