I t’s easier to bump into Hris- tina Popović on some adven- ture, in the Himalayas or the Arctic, than it is to compel her to talk about her splendid tal- ent for acting. We were lucky that she likes Elevate and happily flies with Air Serbia, so we managed to “per- suade” her to speak to us about the oasis that she found in Eastern Ser- bia, her shyness that’s imperceptible to the audience and her current plans that have nothing to do with acting. “I’ve currently succeeded in se- curing space for myself to take a short break from filming, which I’m using to further my studies. I’m taking a master’s course for series creators and showrunners. I’m writing two series, while I make rugs by hand, knit necklaces and write an interest- ing project related to ecology and the educating of primary school pupils. Cross your fingers for me!”
You are loved by directors and audiences, and sought out across the entire re- gion... Has everything you’ve done brought an end to your shyness? “Not at all! There’s no salvation How is it even possible that someone who describes themselves as an introvert opts for acting? “I also wonder about that to this day. Joking aside, there are many motivating factors to deal with this work. For example, I’m excited the most by the process of creating a character, and then playing togeth- er with partners to determine how to use our joint skills to build upon the idea that we choose to imple- ment. That’s that introverted part of acting. What I experience as the tougher side of the job is having my for me on that front.”
HRISTINA POPOVIĆ, ACTRESS Stars instead of a ceiling, fresh air instead of concrete To the misfortune of her adoring public, Hristina has decided to avoid roles a little. She’s always into new adventures and nature, but also her postgraduate studies, screenwriting, making rugs by hand and knitting jewellery
