“ Strange to say, my work on the field has developed into teaching the native workers, and what would I do without the training and notes from the work in the Evening School? "Much more could be said of the splendid fellowship and of the friend ships formed in the smaller classes, together with a more persohal teach ing The memory of the Evening School is one of Joy rather than of work and hardships. Easter prayer meeting: One of the boys was praying for another man, and it happened that the prayer ‘fell on me.’ I know I was scared when it happened, and when Brother Mayer here tried to give me my crutches, I tried to make hlA understand that I didn’t need them. I said to him, ‘ I am done with those sticks forever.’ “ To tell the truth, I was frightened, and wanted to go out and walk and see if it was real, and pranced up and down and seemed to get along all right. Then I thought, ‘I haven’t tried to go up the steps yet,’ and then I walked up the steps and down the * T a m still a little excited, but here I am so that you can all see the won derful work that God has done for me through the Fishermen’s Club. I shall never forget that it w.as here where God knocked me off my crutches, and you may be sure I want to see this Club extended from Coast to Coast. "Thank God, He has got me, and I want to work for Him in any and every way I can. 1 have to go and hide myself once in a while so that l can pray, though I feel like praying right on the street, but if I did l should no doubt be arrested. That is just’ how wicked the world is.” and not as regular as they might have been. I hesitated about signing up for three nights a week, for my work during the day kept me very busy. However, I believed that the Lord had called me to the Mission field and wanted -to do all that I could in the way of preparation. I still had the responsibility of the family, as father was killed some years ago and there were younger children. A short while before enrolling in the Evening School my work changed from bookkeeping to installation and care of telephones and switchboards for a private system. It looked like things would be harder than ever, for when would I have time to study at this Job? It was a little difficult at times, yet all through the year I was ready for any examination. Sometimes, Just when the time was most needed for study, I would be detailed to keep the wirechief’e room for the day, and this would give me five or six hours with a nice desk and writing material, with nothing to do but get my notes up to date and mem orize propositions, outlines, etc. The Chapter Summary work during the summer came out the same way. Again my work changed, this time back to the office, and at times it was nearly midnight before we would get the pay roll straightened out, yet the Minor Prophets were summarized in sched ule time, and a promotion at the of fice as well. ‘It is the Lord’s doings, and is marvelous in our eyes.’

sinner just because I was a railroad man, but because I wanted to be a sinner. "I was sent to get a' train of thirty cars. I got up on the car, took hold of the brake wheel, gave the sign to let off the brake. When I started to let off the brake, I pulled the brake wheel oft and fell down between the cars. The first thing I said was, ‘Oh, God, save my life for my wife’s and children’s sake.’ (My wife was in Cal ifornia for her health.) "As I fell I caught hold of the ‘grab iron,’ and,- with my shoulders on the ground, was dragged for a Jong dis tance. All that time I prayed to God Just like any other coward. For thq world is a coward in the eyes of God; they never ask Him for anything until they get ‘pinched,’ and I was ‘pinched.’ "But He saved my life. I had been dragged a mile and a half in that con dition, and when I was discovered I had lost one foot, had a fractured skull, a broken collar bone, a broken back. I was in the hospital a long time, and when I was discharged I was a cripple and could only get around by the help of crutches, as you all know, “ I started in the Night School about a year ago. I had not been very well acquainted with the Fishermen’s Club until recently. Well, to go back to the

My Experience in the Evening School

«HIS experience of a former graduate s t u d e n t of the Bible Institute of Los An geles, Mr. Don Turner, may be helpful to some earnest Christian young man or woman, some one perhaps who is anxious to know more of the Word of'God yet has so many responsibilities in business or home life that there would seem to be no time left for many evening ses sions. This experience shows how this young man not only carried the bur den of his family and passed his exam inations, but was promoted in his busi ness career. He is now working with the Orinoco River Mission in Caru- pano, Venezuela, South America. He and his dear wife, who is a graduate of the day school of the Bible Instl- tute, are doing a noble work for God among this needy people. Mr. Turner writes as follows: “ In Spanish there are two little words, ‘eso es,’ pronounced like ‘SOS’ in English. They mean, ‘That’s right, or ‘That is the way it is.’ Just so sure are the benefits of the Evening School. “ Before entering the Evening School I had studies with my own pastor, but the lessons were of a general nature,
