Mother and Daughter team up in Tom Sawyer "354 r % * 7&35 * 44&.&/5 r &/5&35" * /.&/5 Jennifer and Emma Long of Embrun are all smiles as they head off to rehearsals on Wednesday evenings and Sunday af- ternoons in Greely. They are both cast members inThe Greely Players’ upcoming production The Adventures of TomSawyer . Interestingly, it was a healthy smile that brought the two of them out to audition for the show.

“My dental hygienist, Maria Chesser, kept encouraging me to audition, as her family have been involved in Greely Player musicals for many years. She knew I sang and said it might be a fun thing for my daughter Emma and I to do together,” Long explained. “I am really glad we took her advice because it has been so much fun.” Jennifer plays the lead role of Aunt Polly, Tom Sawyer’s mother figure. She hasn’t performed on stage since high school, but she’s had lots of experience sing- ing at other events. Emma Long has playedDorothy inMoth- erTheresa’s production ofTheWizard of Oz and she also took part in Maison des Arts’ Rapunzel. “This experience has been awesome,” smiled Emma. “There is so much talent in the cast and everything is so professional.” The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is the ir- resistible story of a fourteen-year-old boy growing up in the heartland of America, based on the classic novel by Mark Twain. Filled with foot-stomping, toe-tapping songs, this musical adventure is a tale of thrilling escapes, comedy and inspiration for the whole family. The Greely Players is a not-for-profit com- munitymusical theatre group operating on a cost-recovery basis only and relying solely on volunteers. “We’re proud to foster community in- volvement in our productions by including actors of all ages,” said Greely Players Presi- dent Joan Bruce-Nibogie. “Every year we try to include children in the show.
