Drill Hall

Melbourne CBD Cost $27.1m

The Drill Hall is a unique redevelopment of an iconic heritage-listed building. Housing Choices was chosen to restore the original 1937 Royal Melbourne Drill Hall, its oces and an existing art deco apartment back to their former glory and construct new apartments on the site. The development comprises 59 one and two-bedroom units, including 21 disability units with customised bathrooms and kitchens. Funding was secured with $19.3 million under the Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan, $1.3 million from the Melbourne City Council - in addition to transfer of the land for no cost, and $2 million from the Sidney Myer Centenary Fund. Housing Choices provided the remaining funds.
