Pirtek Mag 2 progress

It wouldn’t take long for Andrew to return to the top step of the podium however, with Oulton Park – a circuit where his BMW 125i M Sport has traditionally been strong – playing host to round four. On the pace from the moment he hit the track, Andrew planted the distinctively-liveried BMW on the front row of the grid and promptly romped to his second win of the year in race one; adding a further podium in the final race of the weekend for his biggest points haul of the year. Three points finishes followed at Croft, which was a something of a miracle after Andrew’s car was extensively damaged in a multi-car accident in qualifying. When racing resumed after the summer break, and with the Pirtek Racing BMW looking brand new after a rebuild, Andrew looked set to add to his win tally as he took a comfortable lead in the final race of the weekend. Luck would be against him however, with an electrical issue causing his car to suddenly cut out on the penultimate lap. The strong pace from Snetterton would be replicated at Knockhill, with Andrew now focused on a return to the top of the podium during the final three rounds of the campaign. Following his strong start to the British F4 season, Jamie headed for Thruxton reeling from news of the severity of the injuries suffered by his friend Billy Monger in his Donington Park accident.

Insisting that he was ‘racing for Billy’, Jamie honoured his friend in the best way possible with a stunning weekend that saw him take victory in each of the three races at the wheel of his Carlin-run car. It ensured a place in the record books for the rapid teenager, who became the first man in series history to take three wins on a weekend. Another record arrived at Oulton Park during round four, as Jamie picked up his eighth win of the season to go level with Lando Norris for the record of wins in a year. Although his weekend would end on a low, with a heavy accident during race two leading to a first DNF of the year, Jamie remained the man to beat in the championship standings having established a healthy lead over his rivals. Great work from the Carlin team ensured that Jamie was ready and raring to go for round five at Croft and although he failed to get onto the podium for the first time all season, he still maintained his advantage in the standings. Once the summer break was at an end, it didn’t take long for Jamie to go clear in terms of race wins with his ninth success of the campaign at Snetterton, and with win number ten not far behind at Knockhill, he remains clear of the chasing pack in the race for the F4 crown.
