Poutmasters 2016 attracts 300

As inmany fishing tournaments, the weights of the five biggest pouts for each participant were added to determine the winner, which was, once again, Ms. Gauthier. In the youth anglers biggest fish category, Owyn Gauthier won the third place trophy at 498 grams and Aiden Koopman won the second place trophy at 620 grams. Finally, in first place, Veronica Hynes-Ion at 632 grams, the biggest pout caught this year. Although only four fishermen were awarded trophies, everyone that caught a fish during the weekend was allowed to choose one prize from the prize tent. Fur- thermore, there was also a 50-50 draw as well as a draw for either a brand new kayak

The 17 th annual Poutmasters derby, orga- nized by the Russell Kin Club, was held fromFriday April 29 to SundayMay 1 st and attracted over 300 people to the Castor River, catching over 550 pouts. This year, a pledge component was added to the event, providing an opportunity for those interested to donate for the construc- tion of the Russell Sports Dome. A total tally of $8,000 was raised for the Sports dome, courtesy of many organisations, including Scotiabank, Russell Township and South Nation Conservation. Une série d’activités dans le cadre dumois de l’autisme, à l’École élémentaire catholique de Casselman, a tiré à sa fin le vendredi 29 avril dernier. Les élèves des écoles catholiques élémentaires et secondaires de Casselman, ainsi qu’un groupe d’élèves de l’École élémentaire catholique de Saint-Isidore, ont démontré leur solidarité lors d’unemarche autour de la piste de l’école. De plus, le drapeau d’Autisme Prescott-Russell, qui avait été hissé sur le mât du Pavillon Saint-Paul le 1 er avril dernier, a été retiré et placé à l’agora de l’école. —photo Danic Legault
