possesses. Our goal should be to adopt the attitude of heaven while we live here on this earth. The first thing is that we must accept Cod's verdict regarding the goals and objectives of unregen erate man. In verse five of this third chapter we have the entire unseemly list. Most pronounced are those which typify the sex revolution of this very hour. Times have not changed much. Then there is coveteousness which is referred to as idolatry. The god of this age is materialism. The major concern seems to be the ac cumulation of wealth and posses sions. How easy it is to become ensnared in such attitudes. It is so easy to get our mind attached on things instead of Christ.
This is an age of violence. It would be hard to find a time in history when bitterness and hatred has been as pronounced and ram pant as it is today. Such things are not to be characteristic of us (vrs. 8). Society, with its total permis siveness, has torn up the very nec essary stones of self-discipline and moral responsibility. The world has taken the foundation away by cast ing aside the Bible. No wonder there is no standard of morality left. Not only should we accept God's verdict in relation to what's going on today, but also we should accept His Word in relation to the disasterous results of all of this sinfulness. Have you stopped to consider the wrath of Cod? This does not only refer to the future. Page 37
