was going to swim the channel to raise money for her charity and she was there to talk about it on a chat show.When we were driving home, Mum told Dad off. She said that when she was on the television it was important that she wasn’t distracted by anything or anyone. She asked, ‘What were you thinking?’ and Dad was upset because he just wanted to make her happy. Mum is so dedicated to her work. She is such a good mother. Mum works in a big tower block in the City, and she never gets back home before twenty past eight. When she does get back, she is tired and never talks much. Her building is so tall; you can see it from our house. It is made of glass and the sun reflects off it and there is a light on top. It is like a Christmas tree. She has to make sacrifices for the charity, because it’s so important. Sometimes she stays at home to do her work. If she does, I’m not allowed to go into her little white office when I get home from school, because she is too busy and can’t be distracted. I don’t like not being able to see her, but I know that what she does is important and so I always try not to disturb her. My Mum works so hard. Dad and I try to help by doing most of the chores around the house. Sometimes she cooks at the weekends, but usually my Dad does. I do little things like setting the table, and I like to dust and polish things. I usually don’t get to eat with Mum because she works so late. I don’t get to see her very often. It reminds me of how important she is, and my logo, and it makes me happy. Sometimes when Mum goes away she gets driven. Once she went to this charity auction in a place called Christie’s and a big black car came to collect her. She was wearing a necklace with a big, glittery pendant on it.The car had a gleaming, silver radiator grille that shone yellow under the streetlamps, and I could hear a throbbing, humming sound, and I could tell the engine was powerful. The car looked so shiny and smooth, I wanted to run my hand along its bonnet, but the man who opened the door
