Commercial Credit Intern
What I did: At Peoples State Bank, as a commercial credit intern I learned as much as I could about the overall, day-to-day, commercial banking process. I worked directly with the commercial credit analysts in learning about how commercial credit works, and how commercial loan underwriting is performed. I was given multiple projects throughout the semester, including property validations, financial spread-entry and micro/short form loan underwriting. What I liked: At Peoples State Bank, I loved the working atmosphere, and the people I worked with. Coming into the internship everyday was made very enjoyable, as the employees kept work light-hearted. This in turn created an office bond where we all kept each other accountable. When work needed to get done, everyone worked very hard, but it’s important to also keep an enjoyable balance in the workday. For the day-to-day job, I enjoyed the variety of different loans that are worked on. Working with different customer financials, and understanding their financial situations is also exciting to see, as each customer is different. At the end of the day, it’s also nice to know that we are helping mostly small businesses that need help financially, whether that is with the purchase of a piece of equipment or setting up a line-of-credit for daily business operations.
