But I beg to differ with you on two points. Trish, Buck, and Seb are not the only American Consequences reporters who tell the truth. We do our best to make sure that every writer (including me, even when I’m trying to be funny) is telling the truth to the best of his or her ability to discern it. Also, one of the things I love most about Trish, Buck, and Seb is that we do get an idea of their personal feelings. (Though, you’re right that they don’t let those feelings get in the way of the facts.) I think it’s important that readers know something about the people whose work they’re reading. I don’t believe in an “Olympian” style, like the New York Times has, where omniscient judgment is delivered from on high by some supposedly all-knowing source of wisdom. At American
