venues these two options – Skill Sets from tender, and the facilitated model. Our GCE Sticker has been developed to recognise venues as ones providing a Great Customer Experience. The THA will present to venue and to agree actions required to complete the program – including training requirements. Certification will be for two years then re-evaluation occurs. Apprenticeship and Traineeship Review Tas Uni offered students in Business Major (HR) to assess apprentice and traineeship performance in Tasmania. Sources for the analysis were reports available in Tasmania, other jurisdiction’s and overseas as well as studies done by various bodies (ACER etc), and completed by high level info from Skills Tas. Students have also taken the opportunity to research with their own contacts who have worked in industry to access further information. The results have been received from this research and will help form the basis of a comprehensive review in 2017. There are providers starting to offer 18 month to 2 year apprenticeships for Cert III in Kitchen Operations. The THA is giving industry feedback on these proposals where we are consulted. Issues and Barriers • Ability to get information and speak to non- completers

• Hospitality solutions being put in place should have Industry Body, its Board or general industry being involved in process or assessment. Employment Agencies Engagement The THA has engaged with Job Actives and Not For Profits and provided ambassadors, linked them with training and sought a good group of job seekers that would fit into the industry – we have guaranteed assistance in work placements. The biggest issue we have in this area is making sure we get the best of the clients from these sources. The work of the ambassadors is critical in getting job seekers to value the industry, the attitude of Job Actives and NFP’s is critical in providing a suitable workforce. The THA is a member of the People with Disability in the Workforce - Coalition Group has an MoU with the National Disability Service and has participated in the launch of JobsABILITY. JobsABILITY is a project aimed at improving employment outcomes for people with disability. Paul Jubbs article in this magazine gives more information on this engagement. Issues and Barriers • Nature of prospective employees to be discussed and agreed with Job Actives and Not for Profits • The training – find an acceptable model – accredited vs non-accredited.
