Four northern suburbs properties are now providing women and children experiencing domestic violence a safe and secure home, thanks to the $2.1M Haven Program. This is a joint initiative between Believe Housing Australia and AnglicareSA, and the Australian Government which provided more than $1.9M through its Safe Places Emergency Accommodation (Safe Places) program. Safe Places funds the renovation, building and purchase of new crisis or emergency accommodation to support women and children experiencing family and domestic violence. Through the Haven Program, four existing properties were purchased and refurbished to make them fit for purpose —including appropriate security provisions— and all four have now been tenanted.

Believe Housing Australia partnered with AnglicareSA’s Homelessness Service, which will provide case management and support services, while tenancy and property management will be delivered by Believe Housing Australia. Believe Housing Australia’s Executive General Manager, Stacey Northover, said it had been a privilege to collaborate with the Commonwealth in providing housing for families experiencing violence. “This effort doesn’t merely offer sanctuary,” she said. “It extends a vital lifeline fostering the restoration of hope, dignity, and the opportunity to mend shattered lives. “Within the safety of a secure home past wounds can mend, paving the way for a more secure and promising future.”

Newsletter Summer 2024

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! As we reflect on the holiday season, we’re excited to share the moments from our recent Christmas celebrations, hosted by the Tenant Voice team. Whether you’re from the bustling metro areas or cosy regions, these events were all about our shared experiences and the spirit of togetherness. Local business also played a crucial role, generously supporting the events and donating their time. From catering to entertainment, their contributions helped create an atmosphere that was memorable for all who attended. Tenants were able to connect with each other, forge new friendships, and strengthen the sense of belonging within the community.

2023 Gardeners of the Year

The annual Garden Competition is held in recognition of local gardeners to encourage community interest in gardens, and to enhance the presentation and liveability of our communities, with particular focus on tenants’ health and wellbeing. The competition is an opportunity for Believe Housing Australia Tenants to showcase their gardens and have their passion and enthusiasm recognised.

Tenant and competition entrant Pam, wrote a beautiful poem about her love of her garden. “Warm and lovely weather now. My garden is on show. Thank you, Believe Housing. I appreciate you more than you’ll ever know.” Congratulations to all the finalists and winners!

Community ovals and parks were filled with laughter and fun! Our Christmas celebrations weren’t just events; they were our way of fostering positive relationships and communications between staff and tenants. These events align with our mission to build a Believe Housing Australia community where residents feel valued, heard, and truly connected.
