Bouvier Road makes CAA top ten bad roads list
(CAA) released its annual list of the Top 10 Worst Roads in the province on June 18. To- ronto’s Dufferin Street hangs on to its title of the worst road in the province for the eighth time running. Most of the dishon- ourable mentions on the list are from the Greater Toronto and Hamilton areas. But the City of Clarence-Rockland makes the list this year with Bouvier Road over in Clarence Creek finishing at number eight
behind London’s Wharncliffe Road South and ahead of Carling Avenue in Ottawa. “CAA received over 10,000 votes from across the province, the most votes to date,” stated Faye Lyons, CAA South Central On- tario representative. “While the popularity of the campaign continues to grow, it dem- onstrates that infrastructure remains a criti- cal issue for Ontarians.” The list is compiled from votes that the CAA collects over the springtime through its online polling setup. The deadline for nomination votes was May 31. The system is designed for a one vote limit on each nomi-
nation with participants able to nominate as many roads as they wish. Gilles Maranda, Clarence-Rockland’s new infrastructure and engineering direc- tor, has received feedback, both first-hand and second-hand, on the CAA poll results. He agreed that Bouvier Road “is in need of some tender loving care” and the road is on the summer schedule for repair and up- grade work this year. “We do take this seriously,” Maranda said. “But right now we are facing many kilome- tres of road and we are maintaining them the best we can.”
