“The difference between a salesman and a clerk is that the salesman finds cus tomers, while customers must find the clerk. In business for God, are you a salesman or a clerk? Must, sinners .find you, or do you find them? Does your church find men, or must men find your church? One good salesman is worth a dozen clerks .”—The Expositor. A writer in The Christian Standard re lates the following: “A young doctor by the name of Brown, with the brightest prospects for a successful career as a physician, was stricken with blindness. ‘O God,’ he prayed, T consecrate my talent of blindness to Thee.’ And he worked out the alphabet for the blind! How im measurable has been his gift to afflicted mankind!” A girl of the t e n e m e n t s , who had taken the place of mother for the other children, by scrubbing, washing, cooking, mending, until her slender shoul ders bent and her body was stricken with disease, was finally told she must die. “I haven’t been able to do anything,” she said to her favorite girl friend from around the corner. “I couldn’t go to school or Sunday school because of the work and because it took all papa could spare to keep the others in clothes. The minister said I’d soon see Jesus, but I’m afraid I haven’t done anything good, and I don’t know what to say to Him.” ; ?You needn’t try,” said the other encouraging ly, kissing the pale face;; “not a single word. When you see Him look at you just show Him your hands.”

possessions—a mind of his own and a tongue which he does not hesitate to ex ercise. Luck is with him from the start. After only one rebuff in the railway sta tion, his offer to help a frail man bound for the country is accepted and the two form a lifetime partnership. At the coun try home of the man, many interesting adventures occur holding the reader’s at tention to the end. Those who have not been so privileged, are led to long for a visit to the Island “set in silver,” as they feast on the para graphs describing the beauty of England’s countryside. A spiritual touch is- added by the girl and the Rector, who create a desire in Andy and his companion, for an intimate, personal communion with their Saviour, which the first two mentioned had so richly experienced. The Coming Kingdom, or the Goal of Prophecy B y I. R. D ean Mr. Dean was a very popular and help ful Bible teacher and will be remembered by many in ; Southern California. This book contains a discussion of dispensa- tional subjects in Mr. Dean’s character istic style. It presents, in general, the futuristic interpretation of prophecy. Many will differ with it on details, es pecially where it touches on chronology and dates. However, Mr. Dean was ab solutely loyal to Jesus Christ and to the Bible as the very Word of God and the book is permeated with a spirit of devo tion.
