Saluting Commander Stacy Coulthard 2nd-Generation P.E.O. is a Shining Star in the U.S. Navy

ommander Stacy Coulthard, AB, Radford, Virginia, is the epitome of a P.E.O. woman “reaching for the stars.” She is an engineer, internal medicine doctor, surgeon and commander in the United States Navy. She has spent the last 20 years of her life preparing for and serving in the medical profession and in service to her country. Stacy was born and raised in Radford, Virginia. At an early age, she was captivated by medical TV shows that featured surgeries and life in the ER. As a teenager with a full schedule of activities in dance, band and cheerleading, she found time to participate in the candy striper program at a local hospital and shadow the emergency room doctor. From Radford High School, Stacy attended Virginia Tech, graduating cum laude with a degree in engineering science and mechanics with a minor in mathematics. As a sophomore at Virginia Tech, she joined the Virginia Tech Rescue Squad where she was an EMT and ambulance driver. This experience cemented her interest in medicine and going to medical school became her goal.
