Support the Fort

Foodland parking lot at 5:30 am, on May 9, and brought coffee to raise funds to help the evacuees of Fort McMurray. “Some 5-year-old kid in Whitby, on Sa- turday, had a lemonade stand and raised two grand,” said Mr Arber, on Monday mor- ning. “So I started thinking and told myself: ‘Come on man! Gotta do something.’ So
I’m here and all the proceeds will go to the Red Cross, since the Federal Government said that it will match the Cross’ numbers. I don’t do things just once and we will do this again for sure. Maybe not at the same spot, since the traffic is really fast here (highway 34).” Since May 1 st , a wildfire is consuming the
Fort McMurray region in Alberta and 1600 structures have burned down in the city, forcing the evacuation of some 80,000 ci- tizens. The wildfire is still out of control and the burned area is now up to 1,600 square kilometers. The fire has also hampered the oil-sands industries, which are running out of workers after the big evacuation.
