THINK SWANSEA Think sport... At Swansea we pride ourselves on our dedication and commitment to sport and active living. The University’s sports department ‘Sport Swansea’ encompasses all areas of sport and recreation, welcoming every level of sporting ability. We have strong links with a number of National Governing Bodies and professional sports teams including: Swansea City FC (football), Ospreys and Scarlets (rugby). Students and Alumni can take advantage of great value gym membership which includes: • Unlimited use of the Gym at both the Sports Village and Bay campus • Access to FREE fitness classes • Free entry to racquet sports • Live and Les Mills virtual from our Virtual Studio SWANSEA BAY SPORTS PARK FACILITIES Next to the Singleton Park Campus is the Swansea Bay Sports Park which includes: • A gym • Squash courts • Fitness and spin studios • Multi-purpose sports hall • Physiotherapy clinic and soft tissue therapy clinic • Outdoor tennis courts, playing fields, athletic track and field, sports pavilion and astroturf pitches

Swansea is a vibrant centre for art and The Glynn Vivian Art Gallery is widely recognised as the city’s premier venue for art exhibitions. All national museums and art galleries in Wales are free to enter, so you can soak up our history and take up one of many trips organised by Swansea University’s Students’ Union. THE TALIESIN ARTS CENTRE The Taliesin Arts Centre sits at the heart of Singleton Park Campus and hosts regular performances, mainstream and alternative cinema screenings, and the award-winning Egypt Centre, home to a collection of over 5,000 Egyptian Antiquities.

WALES NATIONAL POOL SWANSEA The Wales National Pool Swansea is home to The Swim Wales High Performance Centre and has been used as a training base for two international Paralympic teams. The pool also runs SubAqua and Surf Fitness classes. SPORTS FACILITIES AT THE BAY CAMPUS The Bay Campus features: • A full height sports hall that can accommodate basketball, badminton, netball, volleyball, fencing and archery • Fully equipped gym • A floodlit multi-use games area and half basketball court • Programmes of beach sports such as rugby, beach soccer, volleyball and beach tennis • Cycle hire, exercise and jogging routes HIGH PERFORMANCE PROGRAMMES We currently offer six high performance sports programmes. Each sport receives expert coaching, sports science services, athlete lifestyle management, physiotherapy and strength and conditioning support. These sports are currently: rugby, football, swimming, hockey, netball and table tennis.

MUSIC & FESTIVALS Wales is famed as the ‘land of song’ and as a student at Swansea University you won’t be disappointed by the range of music on offer across the city! Swansea boasts a huge variety of music venues and plays host to a number of music festivals and events throughout the year. Entertainment

SHOPPING Shop big high street names as well as

independent boutiques, specialist shops and traditional arcades. You can visit designer boutiques in Mumbles, shop vintage outlets in Uplands or pick up a bargain in Wales’ largest indoor market in the heart of the city.

The University also offers the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) with an annual support package worth up to £5,500.

The city by the sea has a poetry all of its own. Swansea’s most famous son, Dylan Thomas said: “Swansea is still the best” and the poet’s legacy is found throughout the city from cafes to pubs to parks. More poetry is needed
