YEAR AND SEMESTER ABROAD

Go Global As a student at Swansea University, there are so many different ways you can develop your international experience even further. Some of our courses include the opportunity to spend a semester or year abroad. You can also take part in one of the many summer programmes available. Our programmes enable you to expand your global network further and: • Increase your confidence, self-awareness and maturity • Develop a global perspective and your intercultural awareness • Become more resilient • Improve your communication and language skills • Develop your transferable skills to help your future career

Students going on a year abroad may study at a partner university, complete a work placement or teaching assistantship. Options and destinations will vary depending on your course. Some courses allow you to spend a semester abroad. This is usually during the second year of a three-year degree, but options will vary. You may need to meet a minimum academic threshold in order to participate in a semester or year abroad programme. Available destinations and associated programme costs vary. You can choose from internships, volunteering, cultural and study programmes in countries such as China, Japan, Zambia, Fiji and across Europe. It was a great adventure, expanding my knowledge and skills in a new environment. My experience in Japan offered me the opportunity to develop and grow, and has left me with great memories!
