The tuition fee you pay will depend on your choice of course and classification as either an overseas or home/ EU student. Please note that tuition fees for years of study after your first year are subject to an increase of 3% for overseas students.

We have a wide range of scholarships available to students who can demonstrate academic and personal excellence. Below are just some of the scholarship schemes available:

UP TO £6,000 INTERNATIONAL EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP International Excellence Scholarships worth up to £6,000 for undergraduate study and up to £4,000 for postgraduate study in recognition of the potential we see in you for your time at Swansea University ALUMNI AWARDS Scholarships of up to £5,000 off tuition fees are available for non-EU students who have completed a full degree with us and go onto a Postgraduate Taught or Research programme. ACADEMIC COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS Each year we have a number of scholarships awarded by our academic Colleges. Details of these will be announced early in 2021. SPORTS SCHOLARSHIPS We look for students who not only satisfy the normal academic requirements for admission but who have also demonstrated outstanding ability in whatever sporting sphere they have made their speciality - four levels of awards are available.

MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS Our Music Entrance Scholarships are designed to enable talented musicians to continue to develop their skill and musicianship in a supportive environment. These scholarships are open to new undergraduate and postgraduate students studying any subject, and are tenable for the duration of the scholar’s degree. CHEVENING SCHOLARSHIP Swansea University is a popular destination for Chevening Scholars and it is honoured to support this scholarship programme. Awards are typically for a one year taught master’s degree and are awarded to outstanding scholars with leadership potential.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT DEPOSIT All international students (non-EEA) must pay a £2,000 deposit before we can issue your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) which you will need for your visa application. OTHER COSTS In addition to tuition fees there may be further costs such as: • Visa and Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) costs – more information visit: swansea.ac.uk/ international-campuslife/immigration • Additional course costs – please check the course pages for additional costs, which are in addition to the course fee and accommodation. COST OF LIVING The cost of living in Swansea is relatively low compared to many other cities in the UK. However, it is still vital that any potential student prepares their finances before they attend university. The average student studying at Swansea will spend between £7,000 and £11,000. The UKVI sets living costs at £1,015 per month for Tier 4 purposes (over 52 weeks) on living costs depending on lifestyle choices. For more information visit: swansea.ac.uk/international-students/my- finances WORKING WHILST STUDYING Whether you can work in the UK is dependent on your nationality and type of immigration pathway, If you are a full-time student on a Tier 4 visa you are permitted to work up to either 10 or 20 hours a week (depending on your course). For most UG/PG and PhD students this would be up to 20 hours. If you are planning on studying on a different visa (e.g. Short term Study Visa, Dependant, Tier 2) you may be able to work. If you are an EU/EEA/Swiss student who is in the UK on or before 31st December 2020 you will be eligible to apply for the EU Settlement Scheme- which has no restriction on work. If you are arriving on or after 1st January 2021, whether you can work will depend on the type of visa that you have. Further information can be found on the EU/EEA/Swiss section on the International@Campuslife website: swansea.ac.uk/international-campuslife However, any government guidelines as the number of hours you may be able to work will also depend on the intensity of your course. You are advised to speak with your Academic College or School when considering taking on part-time work. INTERNATIONAL CRISIS FUND Swansea University has established a small fund to provide emergency assistance for international students who face financial difficulties not anticipated at the start of the course, and not within their control. U.S. FEDERAL AID - Swansea University is a participating institution in the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program for U.S. citizens. Complete your FAFSA online at fafsa. ed.gov Our School Code is G08586. Swansea University also works with the private lender Sallie Mae and participates in the VA Educational Benefits Programme for U.S Veterans or dependants. CANADA: Swansea University is a designated institution for the Canadian Student Loan program. Our 4 digit Educational Institution code is “PUCM”. Canada Student Loans are issued and managed through the National Student Loans Service Centre, and are usually applied for at provincial level.
