Memory Verse: “ Jesus the Son of God . . . was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin” (Heb. 4:14,15). Have you ever wished that you would never be tempted to sin? Some boys and girls have that desire when they try to overcome temptation and fail. Perhaps if they would read our story about our Lord that we have today they would feel encouraged and they would know that they may have victory through God’s Son. The Lord Jesus Christ had to make choices between right and wrong just as you do each day! Satan tempted Him constantly with every temptation that is known. Remember, it is no sin to be tempted to do wrong; it is sin only when we actually do the wrong. Al though our Lord was frequently tempted to sin, He Himself never sinned. That is where the difference is between His temptations and ours. When we sin and pray, is it not a precious thought that He fully understands because He too was tempted in exactly the same ways in which Satan tempts us? If our Lord had never been' tempted, He could not understand our need of help in the hour of temptation. In the story of the temptation we are told that Jesus used God’s Word as His weapon when Satan would endeavor to make Him sin. Have you hidden many verses from the Word of God in your heart? If you have not, you have no weapon with which to de feat the devil. A little girl ran to her teacher crying because she could not overcome her tem per. The teacher had recently overcome her own temper, not in her own strength, but by yielding her disposi tion completely to her Lord. Together they prayed and talked, each under standing the other because their tempta tion and their sin were the same. So it is with our Lord, whatever our tempta tion, God’s Word says that “ He was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” Is there some secret sin in your life that you hate, a sin that you try to overcome only to yield to it again? A few minutes alone with your Saviour, the Son of God, will bring you victory, and give you strength to say “ No” when Satan would cause you to grieve your Lord.
