New Jersey rental building cited for green design Eco-friendly Madox gains national recognition with Gold Award from Professional Builder

ERSEY CITY, NJ — Ma- dox, the 131-home eco- friendly rental building being developed by Fields De- velopment Group in Jersey City’s historic Paulus Hook, is beginning to gain national recognition for its environ- mentally-conscious building practices and design and re- sponsible approach to urban redevelopment. The seven-story building re- cently received a “Gold Award” for Green Design in the 2012 Professional Builder Design Awards . The award will be pre- sented during the International Builder’s Show taking place this January in Las Vegas. Judged by a panel of promi- nent architects from around the country, the awards recognize companies and buildings that produce homes that illustrate design quality and success in the marketplace. Madox re- ceived high marks for each of the judging criteria, including Exterior Design/Curb Appeal, Interior Architecture, Sales/ Marketing Success, Construc- tion Quality/Cost Efficiency and Green Features. Edison, NJ — Mack- Cali Realty Corporation announced that 8 Campus Drive at Mack-Cali Business Campus has been awarded LEED-EB:OM 2009 Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) . 8 Campus Drive, along with Mack-Cali’s 106 Allen Road in Bernards Township, are two of the four multi-tenant buildings in the state to achieve this presti- gious award. The LEED-EB:OM 2009 (“Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design – Ex- isting Buildings: Operation &Maintenance”) certification recognizes maximized op- erational efficiency withmini- mized environmental impact. It addresses cleaning and maintenance issues includ-

Green elements incorporated into Madox in- clude a PV Solar Array and vegetation on the roof, elec- tric car charging stations, and systems to reduce water consumption by over 45% and energy consumption by 14%. The building will also be under contract for at least two years to provide 35% of its electricity from renewable sources. Situated at 198 Van Vorst St., Madox will offer residents a neighborhood setting. “The location and proximity to Manhattan are fantastic,” said Caulfield. “PATH Trains and high speed ferry service to New York City are just a few blocks away, while the Light Rail conveniently takes riders through popular Gold Coast destinations such as Jersey City and Hoboken.” n • A Green Cleaning Pro- gram, implemented as part of a comprehensive build- ing-wide Indoor Air Quality Program This project was completed by the Mack-Cali property management team, with Ge- rard Hazel of Sustainable Systems LLC providing consulting services.
