pressed with all that she had done, and with the love her friends had for her. He knelt and prayed and Dorcas was brought back to life. As I look at this needle and match, I am reminded of Proverbs 15:1-3, “A soft answer tumeth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger. The tongue of the wise useth knowl edge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness. The eyes of the Lord are in every place, be holding the evil and the good.” In Proverbs 16:32 we read, “He that is slow to anger is better than the migh ty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.” We should be careful how we use the things of life, for often they have great possibilities in them. Nov. 14, 1954 A T ie a n d a B uy OBJECTS: A candy sucker, a hair orn ament, a necktie, a Bible and either a map of the world, or a small globe. LESSON: When spending our money, we generally try to get the best value we can. We want to buy some thing that will be good and will last. How many of you would like to have a sucker? Yes, I see that all of you have a sweet tooth. Have you ever figured out how long a sucker lasts? It is called an “ all-day” sucker, but I have never seen one which lasted that long. If you want the most for your money, you will not buy a sucker, for though it is very sweet, it lasts but a short time. Girls, how would you like to have this pretty ornament for your hair? How long do you think it would last? It would last longer than the sucker, but it would not be long until the style would change, and this beautiful ornament would be worthless. As pretty as it is, it is not the best bargain. Boys, do you think you would like this bright necktie? Yes, I am sure you would, but have you stopped to realize that money spent for neck ties will not bring the very best bar gain? After a few months, the neck tie will be old and useless. This Bible represents the very best value in all the world. I take it, and put it on top of this globe (or

Nov. 7, 1954 L it t l e a n d M ig h t y OBJECTS: A needle and a match. LESSON: This match and needle re mind me of two Scriptures, and some great truths revealed in them. They are both small, but both have great possibilities. In James 3:5, 6 we read, “ Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.” Fires have been started with a

single match, no larger than this one, which have burned whole cities. A match is little, but the possibilities in it are very great and often terrible. It is a good picture of the tongue. James says that the tongue is like a little fire, “ and setteth on fire the course of nature.” I do not want you to forget the little match, but I want to talk to you about the little needle which I hold in my hand. A woman in the Bible named Dorcas became very famous because she used her needle in sewing. Sewing groups all over the world are named after her. We are told that she was “ full of good works and almsdeeds” (Acts 9:36). Even though she was a good woman and did many splendid things, she became sick and died. The disciples heard that Peter was at Joppa, and they sent requesting him to come im mediately, which he did. When he arrived, “ all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them” (Acts 9:- 39). Peter doubtless was much im
