a red cross, reminding us that Christ shed His blood on the cross to re deem us from our sins. When we by faith receive Him as our Saviour,’ our sinful hearts are healed. There is an interesting story in the 5th chapter of Mark, telling about the healing of Jairus’ daughter. The heavenly Healer was recog nized by Jairus for we read, “And, behold, there cometh one of the rul ers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet, And besought him greatly, say ing, M y little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live” (Mark 5:22,23). Before Jesus reached Jairus’ home, a servant came saying that she had already died, but when Jesus ar rived, He touched her, as the father had expected, and she was brought back to life. Hearts are healed today, and brought from sin and death, because Jesus died on the cross and shed His precious blood. It must have been a thrill for Jairus after this to turn in his Bible to Psalm 46:1 and read, “ God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” The heavenly Heal er, the Lord Jesus Christ, was present just at the time He was needed, and He became a very present help in trouble.
