QUINTA DO NOVAL PORT SAMPLE KIT: (3x20cl) O ne of the oldest port houses, Quinta do Noval is also arguably the greatest. It is unique among top port houses in that most of the ports are made from estate-grown fruit and, notably, all of the vintage Noval wines are from the single Quinta do Noval vineyard.

This kit includes one 20cl bottle of each: • Noval Black Reserve • 10 Year Old Tawny • Late Bottled Vintage 2017

‘NOVAL BLACK’ RESERVE Noval Black is a new way to drink port destined to be enjoyed with dark chocolate or simply drunk chilled, used also as a cocktail ingredient. No ageing, no decanting necessary, just a great glass of Port. It is a blend of 2 to 3 year old wines, some aged in large oak casks, some in stainless steel vats to preserve its freshness. 50% of the grapes were trodden by foot and fermented in the traditional "lagares" of the Quinta. As a premium ruby port expressing a deep color and a high aromatic complexity, it carries the ‘Reserve’ designation.

10 YEAR OLD TAWNY Noval was the first to introduce blended tawnies with an indication of average age. 10 year old Tawny is a blend of old Ports from different vintages that have matured in oak casks, with an average age of 10 years. It has acquired the classical attributes of an old Tawny Port, while at the same time retaining much of the freshness and fruit of its youth. 100% of the estate grapes are trodden by foot in lagares, a traditional, costly and rare approach, and the wine is aged in oak barrels of 640 liters until bottled. The 10 year old Tawny has a deliciously crisp, fresh style with an outstanding intensity of color, complexity, concentration, and depth of flavor. It’s rich and smooth on the palate, with an elegant structure and long finish.

LATE BOTTLED VINTAGE 2017 Noval was the first to introduce late-bottled vintage port in 1958. Treated exactly like a Vintage Port with only noble grape varieties that sourced exclusively from estate vineyards, trodden by foot and unfiltered. This expression differs in its extended aging, seeing five years in casks instead of the typical two years for Vintage Ports. Definitely an LBV with a difference, this wine has fine structured tannins, great freshness and purity of fruit. It is delicious to drink today, but will age beautifully in its bottle. Longer maturing in casks helps provide a smoother wine and gives it its very approachable style, ready to drink as soon as it is bottled.
