Community aid grants Champlain Township council approved two com- munity aid grants, each worth $200, during its Sept. 12 session. The 4H Prescott-Russell Club will get a grant to help with expenses for some of their members to compete in the Royal Agri- cultural Winter Fair in Toronto, which is Nov. 3 to 12 this year.The club has had several successful entries at the agricultural expo over the years. Champlain Township athlete Joey Desjardins, now living in Hawkesbury, will receive a grant to help with his expenses as he trains and competes in para-cycling with the goal of earning a place the Canadian Paralympic cycling team. – Gregg Chamberlain The Robert Hartley Sports Complex, the Hawks’ usual home arena, has been experi- encing issues with fog on the ice since Friday, September 15. The fog has been caused by a defective humidification system in the arena. As a result, the Hawkesbury Hawks have had to postpone their last two home games – their Friday, September 15 game Having had to postpone their last home game on Friday September 22 due to a fog issue on the ice, the Hawkesbury Hawks will be temporarily playing their home games at the Glengarry Arena.The Hawks will now be hosting Carleton Place Canadians there on Friday, September 29 at 8 p.m.
