result, I need to work within the confines of the existing physical structure. I would love to work more on new constructions or total home renovations, where I can help create new bathrooms or the kitchen without existing space restrictions. How do you unwind when you’re feeling stressed out? Walking. I love the fresh air and being out- side. It helps me clear my mind. Is there a design upgrade you’d love to make in your own home? My primary bathroom. I love the new tech- nology that Kohler has released recently. Can you share something in the world of design that fascinates you? The blending of design, function, and tech- nology. For example, Kohler’s DTV design allows for controlling up to twelve outputs of water for an amazing shower experience. Would you live in a building that wasn’t originally designed as a residence? I am interested in the redevelopment of commercial space, like office buildings, into new residences, working to take a
What’s your personal design style? Simple and classic: timeless approaches. That, to me, is important for your kitchen and bathroom. It can last far longer than more trendy of-the-moment designs. Describe a memorable project. One of my clients had this amazing, beauti- ful old Victorian home in Summit. The Nate and Jeremiah Home Project . Of course, I am a bit biased as I helped design several of bathrooms in multiple episodes. I also helped design Jeremiah’s office kitchen. What color would you be and why? Yellow. It is bright and cheerful and reminds me of sunny spring and summer days. Is there another kind of design you’d like to do more of? Most of my projects are for clients who are remodeling their existing homes. As a

warehouse on the water in Hoboken and converting it into large loft apartments. What is something you hope clients have thought about when you begin working with them? Ideally, how they want to use the space. For example, in the shower, how many outputs of water—showerheads, rainheads, body sprays, handhelds—do they want? It not only sets the tone for the shower design but goes to the construction of the bath- room and coordination with the contractor. What makes you think: spring is here? Daylight. I love when the days last longer, and it is not dark when I go to work or come home.
