Beaver Gilbert Neill helps plant 1000 trees in the sandy soil beside the Russell Town- ship municipal landfill on Saturday, May 4. About 20 children and almost as many adults came out, along with Environmental Advisory Committee members, Township Councilor Eric Bazinet and Township Mayor Jean-Paul St. Pierre. Committee member Cindy Saucier says that the goal of 10,000 trees has almost been reached, with this event bringing the total to 8000. The Scouts also held the annual Scoutrees fund- raiser earlier that day, canvassing for donations to support local Scout programming and theWorld Scout Brotherhood Fund.
