Housing Choices and The NDIS STABLE AND SAFE HOUSING IS ONE OF THE KEY CONCERNS IDENTIFIED BY PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY AND THEIR FAMILIES
The NDIS offers its participants unprecedented control and self-determination over where and how they live their lives. During the NDIS roll- out phase, Housing Choices has taken every opportunity to engage with participants, their families, support agencies and partners to better understand the accommodation needs of people living with disability who identify housing as a life goal in their NDIS plan.
While the demand for specific housing types is not yet clear, our specialist accommodation team is drawing on our already long history and experience in disability housing, as well as seeking input from our various and valued sector partners, to explore the many possibilities and latest creative ideas related to accessible home design. In line with our commitment to providing fully integrated and socially inclusive accommodation, Housing Choices is well-positioned to meet the future housing needs of people with disability. Our focus is on quality developments that support the whole-of-life journey, promote freedom and independence, and provide a safe and pleasant environment for agency staff to provide in-home support.
As a result, Housing Choices has made a significant investment in providing leading-edge housing options for people with disability by employing a team of skilled and experienced staff who are dedicated to delivering quality, best-practice, specialist housing solutions that are tailored to an individual’s current and future needs. The NDIS transitional period has enabled us to capture the learnings of the NDIS roll-out to date and we have commenced work on establishing the necessary resources and operational framework that will support and sustain the anticipated demand for specialist housing.
