The number of medical treatment cases increased slightly in 2021 for 2020 from 11 to 17 while the number of lost work injuries decreased from 13 to 8 – returning back to pre- pandemic levels. As in 2020, there were no restricted work injuries in 2021. Overall, there was 1 more injury reported in 2021 than in 2020, for a total of 25.

The injury rates fell for all employment categories except refinery employees, which saw their injury rate increase year-on-year by 61.5% in 2021. The rates for refinery and marketing contractors and marketing employees fell by 26.6%, 96%, and 100%, respectively in 2021. Overall, however, the total lost work injury frequency among UKPIA members has continued to decrease (by 40.6% in 2021). The lost work injury frequency presents lost work incidents relative to millions of hours worked.
