CYBERSECURITY Brute force. Phishing. Ransomware. Cyberattacks. These can come from anywhere at any time. APEGA has the people, processes, and tools in place to defend our networks, data, and hardware in this volatile environment. We take proactive steps to protect our information technology infrastructure from daily threats, including: •developing enhanced ways to assess security controls used by our cloud service providers •blocking internet connections to our network from countries where major cyberattacks frequently originate •providing regular training to staff on how to recognize and avoid cyberattacks
FOUNDATIONAL SYSTEMS We upgraded our membership database and web content management applications in 2022 as part of our software and hardware life-cycle management approach. Routine maintenance and upgrades ensure the security, reliability, and longevity of our foundational IT assets. myAPEGA We set up an internal governance committee to explore incremental improvements to myAPEGA, our virtual member and permit holder service portal. Introduced in 2021, myAPEGA is a critical system connecting APEGA and our membership. Ongoing optimization is a priority to keep it modern and secure.
Our annual third-party cybersecurity assessment has repeatedly found that APEGA’s IT systems are in the upper quartile of comparable organizations.
