Key Responsbilities & Duties Strategic and Operational Development • Plan and develop the Estates Strategy, establishing clear objectives for an agreed period reflecting the organisation position and priorities, advising senior leadership as appropriate • Support budget setting and financial strategy development through estate strategy outputs, in- cluding but not limited to annual condition assess- ment and lifecycle planning • Responsible for the full implementation of the transformative restructure of Estates, including but not limited to, a customer services function, consolidated teams and processes and the em- bedding of compliance management • Be responsible for the overall security of the site, ensuring relationships are managed across the organisation, so that policies are adhered to, chil- dren are safeguarded, and that assets are protect- ed. • Ensure that accommodation and other amenities for children, as well as the working environments of staff are pleasant, clean, and well maintained • Ensure effective management of the relevant third-party contractors, ensuring they work to the highest quality and efficiency, whilst maintaining regulatory standards and best practice. • Develop a new strategy for Health & Safety identi- fying strategic priorities

Capital Programme • As informed by the estates strategy, responsibility for formulation and delivery of capital programme and investment Professionalism • Ensure compliance management is fully embed- ded into the operational estate function and pro- cesses with reporting and performance monitoring processes in place • Ensure the Estates and Health & Safety teams comply with all relevant legislation and support any regulatory reviews and visits, including (but not limited to): Ofsted Education; Ofsted Care; CQC (Care Quality Commission); Health, Safety and Environmental; and CHKS. • Adhere to the policies and procedures of The Chil- dren’s Trust. • Always maintain professional boundaries and professionalism. Management of self and others • Line management and leadership of Head of Health & Safety and Senior Estates Manager ensuring all aspects of the estate and health and safety are managed safely, effectively, efficiently and within budget Communication • Manage relationships and engage internally, across the organisation, and externally to achieve specified outcomes. • Represent the department at committees and

meetings with different types of stakeholders. • Ensure effective communication within the team and across the Estates and Health & Safety de- partment, ensuring cohesive working practices across all areas. Governance • Chair Estates Compliance and Performance Group • Chair Fire Committee • Deputy Chair Health & Safety Committee • Attend annual compliance meeting with M&E and other third-party contractors. • Provide relevant updates for the Director of Re- sources to present to the Board of Trustees and related committees. • Have oversight of compliance, including manda- tory training for all staff within the Estates and Health & Safety Team, and ensure training and development opportunities for the team are en- couraged. • Performance and service levels monitored through established SLAs and KPIs • Responsible for Health & Safety and Estates Cap- ital and Revenue budgets. Budgets forecast and managed efficiently with departmental spend in line with procurement processes Health and Safety • Oversight of organisational health and safety management and support, ensuring priorities addressed and ownership of health and safety embedded across operational departments and practices • Adhere to all Health and Safety guidelines, princi- ples and regulations required to perform your role and comply with The Children’s Trust policies and procedures.

Reporting to the Director of Resources, the Head of Estates and Health & Safety holds a vital role and is a key member of the Operational Leadership Team (OLT) with responsibility for oversight of The Chil- dren’s Trust Estate and Health & Safety that in turn, will enable staff and volunteers to work safely and effectively at our national specialist site, for the UK’s leading charity for children with brain injury and at our charity shops across the South-East. The Head of Estates and Health and Safety takes full ownership of the strategic direction of the estate including development and delivery of the Estates Strategy, ensuring it reflects organisational demand and priorities and providing professional guidance to senior leadership on optimisation, efficiency, and development of the estate accordingly. The Head of Estates and Health & Safety will ensure a sustainable estate that is a desirable place for staff to work and children and young people to live, learn and receive therapy and care whilst upholding a safe and compliant environment with assets managed and maintained to statutory requirements. With oversight of Health & Safety, the Head of Estates and Health & Safety will develop a sustainable and agile strategy for health and safety at the Children’s Trust, providing guidance to senior leadership and di- rection and leadership to the Head of Health & Safety.
