The counties council directed administra- tion to prepare a resolution of support for the EOWC proposal for council to approve at its next regular session. questioning the necessity of hiring a regio- nal ombudsman when the provincial om- budsman’s office already exists, if citizens have complaints about the actions of local councils and politicians. «Why bother having an ombudsman at our level?,» saidMayor Pierre Leroux of Rus- sell Township, with Hawkesbury’s Mayor Jeanne Charlebois agreeing. Leroux noted that anyone who didn’t like a local ombudsman’s ruling could go to the provincial office to have it overturned. UCPR Chief Administrator Stéphane Parisien

told counties council that might be a pos- sibility but added that other municipalities, like Toronto, which have their own local ombudsman’s office, have found that in the majority of cases, the local ombudsman’s ruling is accepted. Champlain TownshipMayor Gary Barton expressed support for the EOWC’s regional ombudsman option. «I would prefer to have someone who understands the situation locally,» he said, regarding local complaints about how town and counties councils deal with matters.

Nous allons continuer de promouvoir l’inclusion, ainsi que la qualité de nos services et les sentiments d’appartenance, de bien-être, d’engagement, et d’expression. » Depuis 1988, l’Agence de garde familiale agréée de Prescott et Russell offre un service aux résidents de la région pour les enfants âgés de 6 semaines à 10 ans.
