Carla Jean McCarty, 77, passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was interred at Resthaven Memorial Park, Masonic Garden in Midland, TX. Carla received her Associate of Applied Science Degree in Paralegal Studies from Midland College and worked in the oil business for many years, most recently as a Division Order Analyst for Great Western Drilling Company, retiring in 2015 after 25 years of service. She was a past President of the National Association of Division Order Analysts (NADOA) and was a member of The P.E.O. Sisterhood, Midland Chapter. Carla was born November 10, 1941 to Opal and Lawrence Shanor in Iraan, Texas. Carla married the love of her life, Don “Mac” McCarty, on New Year’s Eve, 1961. She was a supportive wife to Don for 50 years, a loving mother to two daughters, and a doting grandmother to four grandsons. Her life was never boring. Her unique, fun- loving personality paved the way for her many experiences in her lifetime. This west Texas girl with the best Texas drawl was just as comfortable with a gavel in hand conducting a meeting, as she was cooking a bass on a Coleman stove while camping under the Texas sunset. She could dance gracefully and plan a party like no one else. She was organized, spunky, polite,

stylish, smart and very funny. Whether she was in Italy enjoying a gelato, or traveling with a friend to see Paul McCartney in concert, she was the life of the party. Her devotion to Don after his debilitating illness was the epitome of strength and devotion. The love we all felt for
