DANSKI BREND: LEGO

A FAIRYTALE THAT EVERYONE BELIEVES IN At this very moment, in the Danish town of Billund, one of seven million parts of the most popular toys in the world is being made. And it all began back in 1932, when Ole Kirk Christian- sen made a factory for wooden blocks and gave it a name derived from the phrase leg godt, meaning “play nice”. From that time to this day, although production switched from wood to pla- stic 40 years ago, so many Lego blocks have been produced that every person on the planet could have 102 blocks. The secret of Lego is in its universali- ty. A child today can play with his gran- ddad’s blocks from 1958, because Le- go is neither limited by imagination nor years. Thus, lovers of Lego in Serbia are aged between 20 and 30 and have come to- gether in the “Skockani” club. They use Lego blocks to make everything you can imagine. Luka Petrović even ex- hibited Tito’s “Galeb” (Seagull) ship in Denmark, and is currently in negotiati- ons for it to become part of the perma- nent museum exhibition. There are al- so popular film creations, such as the figure of the Alien from the movie of the same name, which was created by Aleksandar Pavlović, attractive urban scenes, amusement parks with moving attractions and the railway of Miloš Di- mitrijević or the small historical scenes of Nikola Đurić... For all of them, the Lego fairytale endu- res, just as it does for all the kids arou- nd the world who spend five billion ho- urs a year playing with Lego blocks.
