Recap: 2025 NIBA VIC Gala Lunch
NIBA is thrilled to reveal the Victorian/Tasmanian winners of the CGU-partnered 2025 Broker of the Year and the Vero-partnered 2025 Young Broker of the Year awards. They were announced at the 2025 NIBA Vic Gala Lunch on 18 July, at the Sofitel in Melbourne, in the presence of over 520 professionals. The CGU partnered 2025 NIBA Vic/Tas Broker of the Year was won by Debbie Spandonis from Aon. The award goes to a senior broker who is a role model for the broking community, demonstrating excellence in broking practice and client advocacy. James Still from Still Insured was awarded the Vic/Tas Young Broker of the Year. The award recognises the broking industry’s rising stars under the age of 35. NIBA CEO Richard Klipin congratulated the winners and acknowledged the finalists: “I congratulate Debbie and James would like to acknowledge all the finalists who have demonstrated a strong commitment to professionalism and ongoing improvement.”
Damien Gallagher, CGU Executive General Manager, Customer Experience & Growth, said: "On behalf of the CGU team, I’d like to congratulate Debbie on winning this year’s Vic/Tas Broker of the Year award. With her dedication to client advocacy, Debbie has set a very high standard, and we commend her for her broking achievements." Megan Lewis, Vero’s State Distribution Manager for Vic/Tas, said: "James has demonstrated great leadership and a genuine passion for the insurance profession. His innovative thinking and willingness to go above and beyond for his clients set him apart. Brokers like James highlight why we continue to support young professionals in our industry." Debbie and James will go on to compete for the national Broker and Young Broker of the Year awards respectively. The national winners will be revealed at the upcoming 2025 NIBA Convention at the Gold Coast in October.
