As we wrap up the cooler months here in Queensland, I want to thank you all for the warmth and care you bring to our community
each day. Winter can sometimes feel a little slower, but I’ve loved seeing so many of you taking part in activities, catching up with visitors, and making the most of our indoor spaces. Now, with spring upon us, there’s a wonderful sense of renewal in the air. The gardens are coming to life again, and I encourage you to take advantage of our outdoor areas, whether it’s for a chat with friends, a cup of tea in the sunshine, or simply enjoying the fresh breezes. Please remember sunscreen and hats are always available if you need them. As we welcome more visitors and spend more time together in groups, I’d also like to remind everyone to keep up with good hand hygiene and stay on top of your vaccinations. Our nursing team is here to support you if you need any assistance with this. Spring is all about fresh starts, and as always, our focus is on supporting your independence, comfort, and wellbeing. I look forward to sharing this bright new season with you. Annette Facility Manager

ACED Day 2025
On Aged Care Employee Day 2025, the red carpet was rolled out to honour the everyday heroes who make aged care so special. From carers to chefs, cleaners, lifestyle teams, administration and maintenance, every staff member was celebrated for their dedication, compassion and resilience.
Staff lit up the red carpet with their best moves, sharing plenty of cheers, laughter and flowers along the way. Their kindness and commitment touch the lives of older Australians and their families each day, and this moment was a heartfelt way to say thank you – not just today, but every day.

Meet the Resident Pat
Born in Murwillumbah, we moved to Kalbar during the war and lived next to the Salvation Army Church. I spent 3 years in hospital with Polio, then went to Maleny for a little while, my dad was a baker, then finished in Caloundra in 1948. My fondest childhood memories “well we
lived in Caloundra, near the beach, so swimming was my favourite thing to do” Girls couldn’t join the Surf Life Saving club at that time. After school I worked in a shop, Caloundra was so small I went out west and worked in at the Wandoan hotel. I learned everything there, it was a little country pub. My favourite pastime is crocheting, I’m looking forward to joining the knit and natter afternoon group here, I’m just waiting for my things to come. The best piece of advice I’ve received and think it’s important, especially living here is to be patient, be happy and keep smiling. I’m still quite new here, I’ve made some good friends. I’m happy to singalong to anything. I enjoy Daniel Steele books and have popped down to the library here. One of the biggest changes in the world during my lifetime is “progress” well they call it progress. It doesn’t look like progress to me, right now. My husband, Doug was a member of the Surf Life Saving club and was an official, so we travelled to Perth, one of my favourite’s places, for the Surf Life Saving Games. We really liked it and got to see a lot of places. Pat’s proudest achievement is her two boys and the thing that makes me smile, as she points to Doug sitting across from her, “my husband” 13
