who was capable of recognising her talent, this girl from Bačka Palanka quickly became a member of the World Association of people who paint with their feet (VDMFK). - She found them and submitted her application, and then a commission came to verify everything the teacher had said about her. So, at the age of nine I be- came a member of this association, which is head- quartered in Liechtenstein. I receive a scholarship from them, and in return I have to send them sever- al of my works each month. The rules are very clear – she says while showing us her pictures. She has already been recognised for her bright colours, motifs of exotic animals, colourful birds and landscapes. She likes to paint portraits and wants to dedicate herself seriously to that genre. Although she has already held many solo exhibitions, she doesn’t
describe herself as a painter, but rather only a stu- dent who aspires to one day call herself a painter. Apart from painting, sport is Dejana’s new love. She realised that this world is an endless field of new challenges while watching taekwondo. She immedi- ately knew that this sport is for her and set a new tar- get. Little by little, training session after session, and less than two years after she set her intention of be- coming an athlete, she has already become the Eu- ropean vice champion of para-taekwondo. She trains tirelessly at the “Tkd Gitros”club with trainer Sale An- dreevski, and she speaks about her new experience with a radiant face. - That man has done so much for me, and I want to repay his efforts in the nicest way. In May next year we are going to Moscow. Then begins the collecting of points for participation in the next Paralympics. So, Tokyo is my next goal – says a determined Dejana. She has succeeded, with a strong will and energy, to achieve so much. She has also met Nick Vujicic, a man who has instilled in many people the strength to live and fight. - Nick has also found his gift. Although he was born without arms and legs, he realised that his voice and the strong messages he relays in lectures around the world can help many to live freely. He instilled ex- tra strength in me when he told me that I am his in- spiration. And when I heard the same from my idol, Novak Đoković, nothing stands in the way of my hap- piness anymore. With every gesture and deed, Dejana confirms that she also has that greatest gift – of living the most beautiful life. And she says: Use a smile to change the world; don’t let the world change your smile.
