South Avenue & S Main Street Intersection Issue Citizen-identified problem intersection. • Not pedestrian friendly. • Major freight route connecting to Youngsville, trucks have difficulty with turning movements.
Short-Term Improvements Create high visibility crosswalks with flashing pedestrian detection system to warn the oncoming traffic and improve safety. Based on traffic studies, no improvements are required for this intersection in the short-term. Medium-Term Improvements A special study should be conducted to analyze the conversion of the existing network around the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary to a one-way loop. This proposal in further explained in the “Roadway Recommendations” section of this report.
