It is a good year for Josiane Pozzebon and her teammates of the Golden Knights, as they claimed a national collegiate hockey championship title for theirMissouri state alma mater. “I couldn’t bemore excited,” statedMatt Desrosiers, head coach for the Clarkson University Golden Knights. “This group is a resilient bunch. To think we started this season on rocky footing, with a losing record, and then going the rest of the way only losing one game since mid-October, shows this team knew what it took to pull together.” Pozzebon, a native from the village of Bourget, was part of the Golden Knights D-line during their NCAA championship series, earlier this season. The five-foot-five freshman player went into the championship series inNewHamp- shire with her own three-goal-and-11-assists scoring record from the regular season of collegiate hockey. The Bourget native, daughter of Josée and Marco Pozzebon, was a four-year ho- nour role student at West Hill Secondary and is a former member of Canada’s U18 women’s hockey team at the 2015 world championships. Before heading south to attend university, Pozzebon played for the Nepean Jr. Wildcats. The Golden Knights advanced into the NCAA championships for the second time in three years after beating Quinnipiac in the quarter-finals. They clipped two-time defending cham- pionMinnesota 4-3 in the semi-finals, which led to their title game against Wisconsin. The Golden Knights lived up toMissouri’s “show me” statemotto by shutting downWisconsin 3-0 for Clarkson University’s second NCAA title.
