In this book, the reader will find novel and valuable insights about the “transcendental” way of thinking about the philosophical question, whose paradigmatic representatives are, in the opinion of the author, Edmund Husserl and Martin Heidegger. Crowell suggests that this “transcendental” form, which is different from the “metaphysical” way of approaching the question, implies plural methodological considerations and not just naturalistic approaches. In this context, “it is not possible to treat the researcher simply as part of a whole - ‘nature’, ‘life’ - that occurs, in some way, regardless of the research,” nor can we determine the philosophical perspective of what is, for example, the human being, regardless of the researcher’s own ability to philosophize.
