Para el estudio del desarrollo jurisprudencial, se seleccionaron todas las sentencias de casos contenciosos en los que el Tribunal Interamericano ha hecho mención expresa a la figura del control de convencionalidad interno, partiendo del 2006, año en que expidió la sentencia del caso Almonacid Arellano vs. Chile, en el que por primera vez se mencionó dicha figura, hasta finales del 2014. The reflections outlined in this book propose a tool that contributes to the proper accomplishment of the control of internal conventionality by the States, and at the same time it contributes to the strengthening of the Inter-American System of Human Rights. In first instance, the current state of control of internal conventionality is examined in light of the jurisprudence of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, in order to analyze whether respect for the self-precedent constitutes an instrument that contributes to its applicability. For the study of jurisprudential development, all the judgments of contentious cases were selected in which the Inter-American Court has expressly mentioned the figure of control of internal conventionality, starting from 2006, when the judgment of the Almonacid Arellano vs. Chile case was issued, and where this figure was mentioned for the first time, until the end of 2014.
