Some of these scattered Jews had to forfeit much of their wealth when they received Christ. Affluent Christians must have a lowly and humble attitude toward their pos sessions. Is this true of us, no mat ter our station in life? We must de pend of Jesus Christ and not on our money. In verses 10 and 11 James is sues a tremendous warning. Both must be equally concerned and on guard. Neither one can postpone
ourselves or in our own achieve ments. Our glory is in Christ and in the exalted position which He has given to us. Did you know that in the days of the early church many slaves were pastors of churches? Their wealthy masters used to come as a part of the congregation to hear their own bondservants preach the Word of Cod. This is why James tells both the rich and the poor to know that they are one in the fam ily of God. Riches can really be dangerous. While they need not be, they of ten are. Money is not always a
