Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation: Cancer Control Plan

Strategies 3.1 Establish five-year targets for Stage I and II diagnosis of breast, colorectal, and lung cancer. 3.2a Evaluate Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC) patient navigator model (non-RN) for cancer-specific engagement at BBAHC, including potential role in cancer screening and early intervention. 3.2b Leverage opportunities to “max pack” screening when village patients are in Dillingham for another appointment. Develop process mapping to guide a uniform, consistent approach. 3.2c Continue to develop pre-visit planning capacities. Ensure responsibilities related to cancer screening, if any, are described with clear process flow. 3.3 Review effectiveness of current community outreach and messaging strategies for breast, colorectal, cervical, and lung cancer screening. Identity opportunities to integrate emerging technologies in outreach content and patient engagement. 3.4a Monitor screening rates for breast, colorectal, and cervical cancer and Hepatitis C. 3.4b Establish lung cancer screening targets, data collection, and monitoring protocols. 3.5 Plan for pending provider retirements; engage additional providers to perform colonoscopies.
