Milan is the capital city of Europe. I don’t think that is an exaggeration, because this is the centre of everything – cul- ture, the arts, fashion, food, life in general! Did you know, for example, that all European fish arrives first in Milan, and is only then sent further? This is a city where you will never be left hungry in spirit either. Anyone who has never been to Milan’s La Scala does not know what they’ve missed. This magic must be felt and experienced at least once in life. Of course, the famous Duo- mo, Milan’s proud cathedral, the second largest in Italy, whi- ch is toured by the whole world, while those of us who see it every day are left breathless over and over again. You also mustn’t miss out on the famous Sforza Castle, and as you are in the heart of world fashion one of your favourite places will certainly be the Via della Spiga, the shopping zone which opens the door to all the world’s great designers and brands. My favourite part of the city is one that is not present in many tourist guides. It’s called the Navigli District, and is represented by several canals that were made in the 12 th century for the defence of the city and later served for tra- de. Leonardo da Vinci himself worked on one of these ca- nals. After shipping traffic was suspended this part of town was transformed into a real oasis, with a cycle path and a se- ries of small cafés, unpretentious little restaurants, galleries and bars. I often came here with my teammates from Inter. It’s a great place. And when I miss Serbia I go to “Čeda’s Place”. A won- derful man and an amazing place. His entire family works there and the menu includes stuffed peppers, sarma stuffed cabbage, baked beans, ajvar pepper chutney... Miha (Siniša
Mihajlović) and I went there at least twice a month. When you close your eyes you fly home for a moment and you really think you are far away in Belgrade, among your own people... Rare moments of real nostalgia and the best tastes of home. I’ve spent my whole life in aeroplanes, there and back, all over the world, and that has ne- ver bothered me. You get used to it. You accept that a good part of your life has remained so- mewhere high above the clouds and you enjoy that. I enjoy it too, and I laugh since my fast friends have started calling to say, “Hey, we flew with you”. I’m glad that Air Serbia has a plane with my name. After all, the Milan-Bel- grade connection functi- ons phenomenally, with no delays. There are enough flights
tencioznih restorančića, gale- rija i barova. Sjajno mesto. A kad se uželim Srbije, ja odem Kod Čede . Divan čovek i neverovatno mesto. Tamo radi cela njegova familija, a na me- niju su punjene paprike, sarma, pasulj, ajvar… Miha (Siniša Mi- hajlović) i ja smo tamo išli bar dva puta mesečno. Retki trenuci prave nostalgije i najboljih ukusa doma. Uostalom, veza Milano–Beograd funkcioniše fe- nomenalno. Nema kašnjenja, ima dovoljno letova. Za sat i po sam kod kuće, a imam dve kuće i volim ih obe. I Milano i samo moj Beograd.
